Karen Schaaf

I have been the BASSC educational audiologist since January 2014, but I have been an audiologist for over 30 years. I previously worked in a variety of settings, including performing the initial diagnostic audiology tests for infants who failed their newborn hearing screenings. It has been wonderful to reconnect with many of those children and help them along their educational journeys. In fact, one of my favorite things about working at BASSC is the connection that I have made with students and their families. In my spare time, I foster deaf, blind, deaf & blind, and other special needs dogs through Speak Rescue and Sanctuary.

Amanda Terstriep

I have been a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments for 14 years. I have been working at BASSC for the last 7 years. I enjoy being an itinerant teacher, seeing different students every day. My students are all so different, keeping me on my toes and entertained. In my role, I often teach the same students for multiple years, it is rewarding to see the progress they continue to make. When I’m not at school I am with my daughters and husband, usually at sporting events.
